New bell on HMS Broke

New bell on HMS Broke

Here we see the new bell on the Faulknor class flotilla leader HMS Broke, cast after her original bell was lost in action. The new bell was inscribed 'Made from the lip of torpedo tube of G. 42, rammed and sunk by HMS Broke, April 21st 1917', the German ship that the Broke rammed during the battle of the Dover Strait, leading to a rare example of hand to hand combat between ship's crews during the First World War.
