Side view of HMS Brecon (L76)
Here we see a side view of the Hunt class destroyer HMS Brecon (pennant number L76). She was one of two Type IV Hunt class ships, built to a different design than the rest of the class. This design had been produced by Thornycroft before the war, and rejected by the Admiralty, but then ordered in a modified form in 1940. They had a longer forecastle than the rest of the class, which meant that it was possible to operate the ship almost entirely under cover.
