Close-up view of HMS Bittern
This close-up view of the forward section of the C class destroyer HMS Bittern gives a good idea of how cluttered they could be. At the left is one of her 6-pounder guns. We then look forward to her forward funnel, and behind it the combined bridge and 12-pounder gun platform. To the right of the platform we can see the barrel of a second 6-pounder, and just above it is a sailor on the turtleback foredeck.
