Grumman F4F-3 from VF-3, Hawaii, 1942
Here we see a pair of Grumman F4F-3s from VF-3, near Naval Air Station Kaneohe on Oahu, Hawaii. The picture was taken on 10 April 1942, at a point when patrols were still being carried out in case the Japanese returned. At the time VF-3 was assigned to the USS Lexington (CV-2), which was coming towards the end of a short refit, after moving to that carrier from the Saratoga (CV-2).
