Gloster-Whittle E.28/39 takes off

Here we see the Gloster-Whittle E.28/39, the first British jet powered aircraft, taking off from Farnborough with Squadron Leader J. Moloney at the controls. The E.28/39 made its maiden flight in May 1941 and played an important role in the development of British jet engines.
