German War Material captured at Korsun
Here we see some of the war material that was abandoned by the Germans as they broke out of the Korsun pocket early in 1944. A large German army had been trapped, and was eventually forced to attempt a breakout, leaving most of the heavy material behind. Exactly how many men escaped is unclear, with each side giving wildly different figures, but it was a major German defeat.
