Burnt out German Transport at Rouen, 1944
Here we see abandoned and burnt out German transports on the banks of the Seine at Rouen, which fell to the Canadians on 31 August 1944. A similar scene was to be found for two miles along the river, a sign of the desperate situation of the German army retreating from Normandy.
