Side view of Friedrichshafen G.III
This side view of the Friedrichshafen G.III shows the extra wheel mounted under the nose to stop the aircraft tipping over, and the strut linking the control surfaces on the wings. This is a standard G.III with the original tail - the G.IIIa had a biplane tail, with a square fin. The G.III was produced in sizable numbers in 1917-18 with over 500 of the basic model completed.
