Emperor Franz Joseph I, 1830-1916
Franz Joseph I (1830-1916) was Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary from 1848 until his death on 21 November 1916. His biggest achievement was probably to keep his ramshackle empire together for so long, his biggest failure the outbreak of the war that would eventually destroy it.
