Front-left of Douglas C-54

Here we see the nose and port engines of a Douglas C-54 Skymaster of the US Army Air Forces Tropical Science Mission at Mombasa, Kenya, in April 1946. This close-up view of the nose area gives us a good view of the tricycle undercarriage, the engine cowlings and the exhaust pipe.

Many thanks to Michael Hopkins for sending us these pictures, which came from his father's collection, and came towards the end of his RAF service, which lasted from August 1941 to November 1946.
