Boulton Paul Defiants of No.264 Squadron

Here we see two Boulton Paul Defiants of No.264 Squadron in flight. The picture must have been taken before mid-August 1940 when both aircraft were shot down in combat during the Defiant's brief but costly time as a front line fighter.

N1535 was shot down on 24 August 1940 and the crew of Squadron Leader P.A. Hunter and Pilot Officer F. H. King were recored as missing believed killed.

L7026 was shot down over Dover on 28 August 1940 and both crewmen (P. L. Kenner and C.E. Johnson were killed).
