Curtiss JN-4A from the right

Curtiss JN-4A from the right
Here we see a Curtiss JN-4A from the left. This aircraft was developed for the British, and featured increased dihedral on the wings, ailerons on the upper and lower wings (the connecting strut can be seen here) and a revised engine position. This picture was taken on 28 October 1916, so this must be one of the very first JN-4As. The number on the original caption refers to the photograph and not the aircraft.
