Curtiss H-4 and Porte Baby

Here we see a Curtiss H-4 'Small America' on the left and a Porte Baby on the right. The Baby was a three engined flying boat developed by John Porte as an alternative to the family of flying boats based on the Curtiss H-1, but it wasn't enough of an improvement over the Curtiss boats or his own Felixstowe F.2 to be worth putting into production.

From the side they do look rather similar, as you can't see the third engine on the Baby, but the tail arrangement is slighty different, with the horizontal surface mounted higher, and the
