Curtiss F-5L from USS Shawmut
Here we see a Curtiss F-5L coming up to take on fuel from the seaplane tender USS Shawmut (CM-4) at Guantanamo Bay in 1921. The Shawmut had been built as a civilian passenger ship, and served as a minelayer during the First World War before being used as a seaplane tender for most of the interwar period.
