Here we see the Curtiss C-2/ AB-2 being catapulted off USS North Carolina (ACR-12/ CA-12) on 5 November 1915, with the commander of NAS Pensacola, H.C. Mustin at controls. This was the first time that an aircraft had been launched by catapult from a ship, and the first time an aircraft had been launched from a moving ship.
