Brussels Civil Guard Disarming, 1914
As the Germans advanced on Brussels they announced that they wouldn't recognise the Civil Guard as soldiers. The Belgian government decided to disarm them to avoid the risk of any German atrocities. Here we see the Civil Guard marching to hand in their guns.
