Fascine release mechanism on Churchill AVRE
Here we see the release mechanism for the fascine (chestnut paling bundles) carried by the Churchill AVRE, which consisted of an explosive charge wrapped around the wire cable holding the bundle on the back of the tank. When the charge was detonated the cable would snap and the fascine roll off a wooden ramp into whichever barrier it was being used to fill.
