British Infantry at Bergeijk

British Infantry at Bergeijk
Here we see British troops passing through the Dutch village of Bergeijk during the attempt to reach Arnhem (Operation Market Garden). The original wartime caption calls the village Bergeuk, presumably after someone mis-read the IJ of the Dutch original. Thanks to Frans Lepelaars for identifying the building in the background as the Saint Bernardus dairy on Broekstraat, where his father used to work.
