British Pacific Fleet bombarding Miyako Jima
Here we see ships from the British Pacific Fleet taking part in the bombardment of Miyako Jima, an island in the Sakishima group, during the Okinawa campaign. This bombardment took place on 4 May 1945, when the battleships with the BPF were HMS King George V and HMS Howe, forming Task Force 57. The BPF was given the task of supressing the Japanese garrison of the Sakishima islands to make sure they couldn't interfere in the fighting on Okinawa.
