Bomb Damage at Brest, 3 September 1944
Here we see the damage caused at Brest by Marauders and Havocs from the US 9th Air Force during a raid on 3 September 1944. North is at the bottom of this picture, with the main town of Brest on the left, the mouth of the River Penfeld about one-third of the way in from the left, and the centre and right sections showing the suburbs on the western side of the river. During the raid a bridge across the Penfedl was damaged, but that area is obscured by clouds.
