Blackburn Roc from the Left

Blackburn Roc from the Left
Here we see a Blackburn Roc in flight, with a good view of the unusually vertical windscreen, the four gun turret that weighted it down without being terribly effective, and a bomb rack under the left wing. The Roc was designed to attack enemy bombers as they flew straight and level towards a British warship, but by the time it entered service it was too slow to keep up with any modern German bomber and it only served with two front line squadrons for a brief period in 1940 before moving to second line and training units.
