Here we see pilots from No.43 Squadron examining a Messerschmitt Bf 109G from 6/JG53 that was captured at Comiso, Sicily, during Operation Husky. The narrow wheel base of the Bf 109 is demonstrated by the officer standing on one wheel while leaning on the fuselage. Also note that the entire bottom of the fuselage can swing open to allow acceess to the engine.
