Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6/U2 in British Hands

Here we see Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6/U2 'White 16' of 3./JG 301 (W.No.412951), one of two aircraft that landed at Manston by mistake on 21 July 1944 during a night time 'Wilde Sau' operation over Britain. This aircraft was piloted by Leutnant Horst Prenzel, Staffelkapitan of 3./301. The G-6 (and its' pressurised twin G-5) were the first versions of the Bf 109 to carry 13mm machine guns in the fuselage position. This version also appears to have the under-wing cannons, with the barrle seen by the side of the fuselage. This aircraft is also still carrying its fuel drop tank.
