Beaufighters attacking German supply ship, Aegean, 1944
Here we see a group of Beaufighters attacking the last large German supply ship in the Aegean at some point early in 1944. The ship was reported to have been a 5,000 ton merchant ship, and had a heavy escort, including the destroyer seen in the background. Some of the Beaufighters attacked the destroyers to suppress their anti-aircraft fire, while others dropped torpedoes, sinking the merchant ship. Note the low flying aircraft seen directly in front of their target.
