Here we see the view down the Arno in Florence from the Ponte Vecchio, the only one of the city's historic bridges not destroyed by the Germans. Instead they destroyed the historical buildings at each end, as can be seen to the right of this picture. The ruins of other bridges can also be seen down the river.
