Allied Troops pass the Colosseum, June 1944
Here we see a small convoy of Allied troops passing the Colosseum in Rome. The crowds suggest that this picture was taken soon after the first US troops entered the city on 5 June after breaking the Gustav Line, and before they became a familiar sight.
