USS William D Porter (DD-579) sinking, June 1945
Here we see the Fletcher class destroyer USS William D Porter (DD-579) sinking on 10 June 1945 after a kamikaze attacker missed but exploding directly below her, inflicting fatal damage on the ship. Two LCSs, including LCS 86 can be seen on rescue duty. The entire crew of the destroyer survived the loss of the ship.
