Port Wing Bridge, USS Wasp (CV-7), August 1942
Here we see a view of the port wing bridge on the USS Wasp (CV-7) off Guadalcanal on 7 August 1942 the day the Americans landed on the island, and just over a month before she was sunk. On the flight deck are four Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bombers, presumably being prepared to support the Marines on Guadalcanal.
