USS Stevens (DD-479) testing a sea sled with an OS2U Kingfisher
Here we see the Fletcher class destroyer USS Stevens (DD-479) attempting to retreive a Vought OS2U Kingfisher using a sea sled, which was being towed alongside the ship. The floatplane would be moved onto the sled which would then be winched back onto the destroyer. In the end the attempt to fit a number of Fletcher class destroyers with aircraft failed and the equipment was all removed.
