USS Stephen Potter (DD-538), Central Pacific, 2 May 1944
Here we see the Fletcher class destroyer USS Stephen Potter (DD-538) in the central pacific on 2 May 1944 during a series of raids on Japanese bases. This was the day after she has taken part in the bombardment of Ponape Island in the Carolines, and two days after she had taken part in the sunking of the Japanese submarine RO-45. In the background we can see part of an Essex class aircraft carrier (crossed by the Stephan Potter's second 5in gun) and to the right an Iowa class battleship.
