USS Shaw (DD-373) on Trials

USS Shaw (DD-373) on Trials
Here we see the Mahan class destroyer USS Shaw (DD-373) carrying out full power trials with a temporary bow fitted at Pearl Harbor, on 8 February 1942. This was installed with impressive speed, as only a month before she was photographed with her original bow still severed on the floor of the dry dock. On the day after this picture was taken she departed for San Francisco to have a permenant bow installed.
