USS Rochester (CA-2), Olongapo, 1941

Here we see the armoured cruiser USS Rochester (CA-2) moored at the Olongapo Naval Station in Subic Bay in the Philippines on 27 October 1941 just before scuttled. Soon after this picture was taken she was scuttled to prevent her being captured by the Japanese.

This ship went through three names and two designations. From 1893-1911 she was USS New York (ACR-2). From 1911-1917 she was USS Saratoga (ACR-2). From 1917-1920 she was USS Rochester (ACR-2). From 1920 until she was scuttled in 1941 she was USS Rochester (CA-2).
