Bow of USS Phelps (DD-360), Mare Island, 1942
Here we see the bow half of the Porter class destroyer USS Phelps (DD-360) at Mare Island on 24 November 1942, during a refit and overhaul that came between her involvement at Midway and Guadalcanal in 1942 and her service in the Aleutians in 1943. A number of changes have been ringed, probably including an increase in her anti-aircraft armament.
