Here we see Lt Commander Andrew J. Hill (standing on the left), the commander of the Fletcher class destroyer USS Nicolas (DD-449) in her pilot house during 1943. To his right is Captain Francis X. McInerney, his predecessor as CO. This dates the picture to August 1943 or later, when McInerney was promoted to become the representative for Commander Destroyers in the South Pacific
