Commander Thaxter P Spencer brings USS Miller (DD535) into port, 1962
Here we see Commander Thaxter P Spencer on the open bridge of the Fletcher class destroyer Miller (DD-535) as he brought her into port on 21 February 1962, after three months of anti-submarine training exercises in the eastern Atlantic. The Miller spend the last few years of her career as a training ship, and carried around 11,000 naval reservists on training cruises. This shot also gives us a good view of her radar antenna, allowing us to see more of their structure than normal.
