Collapsed foremast, USS Michigan (BB-26)

Here we see the collapsed cage foremast of the South Carolina class battleship USS Michigan (BB-27), which was damaged in an Atlantic storm on 15 January 1918. In the foreground we can see the aarmoured conning tower with its tiny slit windows, and on top a tripod mounted rangefinder under a cover.
