USS Meade (DD-602) afloat after being launched
Here we see the Benson class destroyer USS Meade (DD-602) afloat just after being launched on 15 February 1942. In a sign of the speed of construction, her place has already been taken by the keel of the Fletcher class destroyer USS Brownson (DD-518), a later design despite its lower hull number
