Here we see the Allen M Sumner class destroyer USS Maddox (DD-732) behind the carrier USS Philippine Sea (CVA-47) off San Diego on 3 March 1954. Note the single depth charge rack on the starboard side, and the depth charge throwing K Guns on the same side by the aft gun.
