USS Lowry (DD-770) coming alongside USS Yorktown (CV-10), Okinawa, 1945
Here we see the Allen M Sumner class destroyer USS Lowry (DD-770) pulling alongside the carrier USS Yorktown (CV-10) off Okinawa on 24 March 1945. Presumably both are moving at some speed as the destroyer appears to be suffering in the much larger carriers bow waves!
