Flight Deck Activity, USS Lexington (CV-16), November 1943
Here we see a range of flight deck activity on the Essex class carrier USS Lexington (CV-16) in November 1943. In the foreground some of the crew are sitting on the wing of a Douglas SBD-4 Dauntless. To the right a TBF-1 Avenger is taxiing to the deck park. In the background a Grumman F6F-3 is about to land, and another is approaching. From 19-24 November the Lexington was operating in the Marshall Islands, to support the invasion of the Gilberts.
