Douglas A3D Skywarrior takes off from USS Lexington (CV-16), 1958
Here we see the Commanding Officer of the Essex class carrier USS Lexington (CV-16), Captain James R Reedy, about to take off in a Douglas A3D Skywarrior of VAH-8 on 17 August 1958.
At the time she was operating off Taiwan as part of the American responce to the Chinese shelling of a number of islands closer to the mainland.
