USS Hoel (DD-533) from above, San Francisco, 1943
This picture shows the Fletcher class destroyer USS Hoel (DD-533) from above, in San Francisco Bay on 7 August 1943. From this angle we get a very good view of her wide fantail, which gave more space for anti-submarine weapons and for extra anti-aircraft guns.
