USS Hazelwood (DD-531) docked, early 1960s
Here we see the Fletcher class destroyer USS Hazelwood (DD-531) docked at some point in the early 1960s. From this angle she looks like a normal destroyer, but by this point her rear half had been rebuilt to carry a small helicopter landing pad for use with the Gyrodyne QH-50 DASH (Drone Anti-Submarine Helicopter) and she was used to extensively test the new system.
