Amidships area of USS Fullam (DD-474), 1943
Here we see the area between the funnels on the Fletcher class destroyer USS Fullam (DD-474) while she was at Mare Island on 24 July 1943. Note the searchlights on either side of the nearest funnel and the 40mm gun directors on either side of the rear funnel. We also get a good view of the forward torpedo tube mount on top of the amidships deck house, and some idea of how cluttered with AA guns these destroyers became.
