USS Frederick (ACR-8) covered in ice, 1917
Here we see ice on the forecastle of the armoured cruiser USS Frederick (ACR-8) while was at sea c.1917. From May 1917 to January 1918 she was operating in the south-eastern Atlantic, before moving to the North Atlantic route to escort troop convoys part of the way across.
