USS Franks (DD-544) in the Pacific, 4 May 1945
Here we see the Fletcher class destroyer USS Franks (DD-544) moving at speed somewhere in the Pacific in 1945. The picture is officially dated to 4 May 1945, although on that date she was on her way back to the Puget Sound Navy Yard for repairs, so the presense of two aircraft carriers in the background doesn't make much sense. The picture probably dates to April, when she was serving as a plane guard for the carriers off Okinawa.
