Damaged Flight Deck of USS Franklin (CV-13), New York 1945
Here we see the damaged flight deck of the Essex class carrier USS Franklin (CV-13) after her return to New York in April 1945. The damage was caused by two bombs from a Yokosuka D4Y dive bomber when she was operating off Japan on 19 March 1945. The damage was fully repaired, but the Franklin was never recommissioned after the war.
