USS Forrest Royal (DD-872) coming alongside USS Tarawa (CVS-40)
Here we see the Gearing class destroyer USS Forrest Royal (DD-872) coming alongside the Essex class aircraft carrier USS Tarawa (CVS-40) to refuel on 24 April 1959. The Tarawa was placed into the reserve in the following year but the Forrest Royal remained in service throughout the 1960s.
