Here we see the bows of the Mahan class destroyer USS Flusser (DD-368) at Mare Island on 12 January 1942. Note the pair of .5in AA guns on the raised platform behind the second main gun, and the good view of the raised rim of the platform around that gun, preventing it from accidently hitting the forward parts of the ship.
