USS Essex (CV-9) in South Pacific, 1943
Here we see the Essex class carrier USS Essex (CV-9) somewhere in the South Pacific late in 1943. Note the deck load of aircraft to the left, and the barrels of her larger AA guns pointing up at either end of the island.
